Abstract

Albuquerque's New Mexico Museum of Natural History is presently developing several exhibits of Triassic age fossils. Among these displays is a large block of Chinle shale excavated at Ghost Ranch which may contain one or more fossil skeletons of New Mexico's dinosaur Coelophysis. This massive specimen will become part of an educational display in which museum visitors can view museum technicians skillfully removing red shale matrix surrounding the fragile fossil bones.
